Russian tourism to Cuba declines in first half of 2026

Rusia, Aeroflot, Reino Unido, sanciones
Moscow, Aug 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuba lost up to 70 percent of its Russian tourist traffic in the first half of this year due to the suspension of flights, Artur Muradyan, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, informed.

Muradyan told Sputnik, “Due to the suspension of air traffic, Cuba lost 70 percent of its Russian tourist flow in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.”

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on January 29, allowing the imposition of tariffs on imports from countries that supply oil to Cuba, and also declared a state of emergency due to an alleged security threat emanating from the island.

The measure has further exacerbated fuel shortages in Cuba, affecting transportation, food production, healthcare, and education.

Flights between Russia and Cuba were suspended in February.
