Toledo rememebered that Fidel Castro held numerous meetings with members of the AHS, and in March 1988 he expressed that an organization like this is justified “now and always”, a phrase that over time became a reference for the avant-garde youth of Cuban art.
The AHS, founded in 1986 and named after the Saíz brothers, brings together writers, artists and cultural promoters under 35 years old throughout the country.
