The unions representing university employees staged a strike following the Monday holiday, which will last until August 22.
They are demanding salary increase and the funds for educational operations that the administration of President Javier Milei has concealed and failed to provide since the legislation was passed last year.
Academic activities at the affected institutions could be disrupted on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday due to the professors’ support.
The protest joins the demonstrations held in the last few weeks and new measures already planned for late August.
The conflict threatens to extend throughout much of the second semester if the government does not comply with the university budget regulations.
