Lavrov says Russia and DPRK advocate for a new world order

Moscow, Aug 18 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) are jointly advocating for a new just world order based on multipolarity, equality, and respect for national interests. Lavrov made those remarks in a congratulatory telegram sent to his DPRK counterpart, Choe Son-hui, on Korea's Liberation Day from Japanese occupation.

The telegram underscored that Moscow and Pyongyang are currently advocating, on a common front, for establishing a new just world order based on the principles of multipolarity, genuine equality of rights, and consideration of national interests.

The DPRK and South Korea commemorated August 15 Korean Liberation Day, marking the end of Japanese colonial rule following Japan’s surrender in World War II on that date in 1945.

The Soviet Red Army played a decisive role in the liberation of the northern peninsula.

After the Soviet Union entered the war on Japan on August 8, 1945, its troops advanced into Korea and took control of Pyongyang and other areas in the northern region.
