Brussels hosts bike ride for Fidel’s centenary and for Cuba

Brussels, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) A bike ride honoring the founding of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) by Fidel Castro brought together members of solidarity movements, youth groups, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), Cuban expatriates, and social leaders.

The ride concluded with an emotional gathering at the central Poelaert Square, facing the iconic Palace of Justice, where voices were firmly raised to condemn aggressive US foreign policy, diplomatic sources noted.

Spokespersons from *Cubanismo*, *Los Amigos de Cuba* (Friends of Cuba), Latin American collectives, MEP Marc Botenga, and Cuban Ambassador Juan Antonio Fernandez Palacios denounced the genocidal and criminal nature of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.

In addition to repudiating the blockade imposed by the United States on the island, participants categorically denounced the intensification of the energy blockade, which seeks to strangle the economy and directly undermines the well-being and quality of life of the Cuban people.

During the speeches, attendees highlighted the transformative and revolutionary impact of Fidel Castro’s political and humanist thought, the relevance of which transcends borders.

It was also reaffirmed that the example set by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution remains an undying moral beacon for the nation’s resistance.

Furthermore, Fidel’s legacy serves as a bastion of dignity and inspiration for Third World countries and for all just causes worldwide fighting for social justice and the true sovereignty of peoples, the same sources noted.
