Cuban condolences over river tragedy in Nigeria

Havana, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez sent his condolences to the government and people of Nigeria regarding the river tragedy in Sokoto, in the northwest of the African nation.

On his profile on X, the Cuban foreign minister expressed his sympathies “over the tragic deaths of at least 50 people, mostly children.”

The fatal incident occurred on Thursday, August 20, when a boat overloaded with approximately 80 people capsized near the village of Gorau, in the Goronyo district of Nigeria’s Sokoto State.
