The screening will take place at York cinema in Olivos, a municipality in the Buenos Aires province of Vicente Lopez.
The organizers emphasize in a press release that “some filmmakers age; Mel Brooks, on the other hand, alive or dead, continues to seem like a provocation.
A perfect subversion.” They distinguish him as one of “the great architects of modern comedy.”
To showcase those characteristics, they chose two films: “Locuras del Oeste,” a satire of the classic Western, and “Las Angustias del Dr. Mel Brooks,” to demonstrate that the best humor never asks for permission.
They are two works where absurdity coexists with fierce intelligence, capable of mocking Hollywood, film genres, and even the history of cinema itself without ever losing their rhythm or their tenderness, organizers noted.
