Bogota, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) The declaration of Bogota as Ibero-American Capital of Cultures 2027 fills the inhabitants of this Colombian capital with joy.

The designation, conferred by the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI), comes as a recognition of the role played by the city in cultural matters, its management capacity and the impact of policies that promote creativity, innovation and diversity.

In the opinion of the mayor, Carlos Fernando Galán, it is a well-deserved distinction.

“Bogota has become a capital of open doors to the world, that’s why this recognition is also from our artists, creators, managers, entrepreneurs, communities and all the inhabitants who make it possible for culture to be alive every day in our city,” he declared. The declaration, which has been granted since 1991, is a support to make visible the cultural diversity and artistic offer of the city.

It also represents a recognition of public policies that put culture as a priority and make it a tool to build community from the neighborhoods.

The coming year, Bogota will celebrate for the second occasion of the International Biennial of Art and City, will host another edition of the Festival of Living Arts and will maintain traditional events that extold the heritage values of the country such as Rock al Parque, Salsa al Parque, Hip Hop al Parque, Jazz al Parque and Vallenato al Parque.
