Over 200,000 Nicaraguans participated in constitutional consultation

Managua, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) More than 200,000 Nicaraguans participated in consultations regarding partial constitutional reforms held this month, Co-President Rosario Murillo reported.

In her daily address via “Citizen Power” media outlets, the leader explained that the results of this process—which involved all sectors of the country—will be presented by the National Assembly (Parliament) on September 1.

She added that the initiative included citizens of various ages, trades, occupations, and sectors, all of whom had the opportunity to express their views on the reforms to the Political Constitution.

“As we begin the Month of the Homeland—on September 1 itself—the National Assembly will present the results of all the consultations held throughout August,” she announced.

The Co-President noted that, to date, more than 200,000 people have taken part in these gatherings. She stated that the meetings gathered input regarding the continuation of national programs, as well as harmony, peace, security, stability, and family rights.

She affirmed that the people would continue to build the country’s future based on unity and collective effort, while rejecting the stances of opposition sectors, whom she described as “twisted,” “lost,” and “presumptuous.”

“God is in Nicaragua, and peace is here,” the Co-President declared, contrasting this reality—in her words—with those who incite confrontation and division.
