Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian affirmed that China categorically opposes hacking activities and combats them according to the law, while also rejecting the dissemination of false information for political reasons.

Lin noted that the US statement lacks evidence, “confusing white with black,” and therefore Beijing expresses its strong discontent and firm opposition to Washington’s latest accusations regarding cybersecurity.

According to reports cited during the press briefing, the United States affirmed that it thwarted an operation attributed to Chinese hackers, which allegedly compromised or attempted to compromise systems belonging to the Department of Justice, NASA, the Federal Reserve, and the Senate, among other sensitive government institutions.

The spokesperson pointed out that the international community sees Washington as a major player in hacking and espionage activities and asserted that there is ample evidence of these practices.

Lin noted that Beijing has significant concerns about US cybersecurity and remembered cases attributed to the US National Security Agency related to cyberattacks and the preparation of access to networks linked to critical local infrastructures.
