Cuban Foreign Minister mourns disasters in Nepal and China

Havana, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, today mourned the victims, deaths and damage caused by heavy floods in Tibet, which have also affected the Kingdom of Nepal. In his social network profile X he referred to the weather event and extended condolences to relatives and loved ones of the victims.

Massive landslides and flash floods on the border between Nepal and Tibet have caused widespread damage, with more than 350 people killed and hundreds missing.

Images of what happened show a wave of mud and rocks sweeping buildings, roads and vehicles and a gigantic mass of water and mud descending through a gorge along the Trishuli river, hitting the border post of Rasuvagadhi, a multistory complex.

So far, large floods have also been reported in the Bhote Koshi and Narayani rivers.

“The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development in Nepal has warned that secondary flooding could occur in the next few days due to debris dragged into river systems.

In the meantime, authorities and scientists continue to assess the size, location and stability of any potential blockade,’ the BBC reported.
