The meeting brought together ministers, senior officials, and partners to boost cooperation on key priorities for the continent.

The event, held from August 24 to 28, was jointly organized by the Ethiopian Health Ministry and the WHO Regional Office for Africa.

Discussions focused on progress toward regional health goals, new strategies, and resolutions.

Joint activities were identified to strengthening systems, advance toward universal health coverage, improve safety, and enhance emergency preparedness across the continent.

Recent demographic data reported that Ethiopia presented its key achievements in the sector, after noting that the maternal mortality rate has fallen to 141 per 100,000 live births.

Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie called on Africa to strengthen its capacity to finance, produce, and shape its own health priorities as it faces unpredictable funding for the sector, geopolitical instability, disease outbreaks, climate pressures, and conflicts.
