The event will pay tribute to the centenary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, as well as to intellectuals Marilyn Bobes and Jose Bell Lara.

Sarais Ferrer, president of the literary event’s organizing committee, announced at a press conference that the fair will utilize 28 cultural spaces and institutions around the

Calixto García Park to foster interaction with the public.

The opening gala, titled *Remembranzas* (Reminiscences) and directed by Orestes Saavedra, will pay tribute to Russia, while the closing ceremony will be led by filmmaker Fermin Lopez.

The publishing program will include the presentation of the first volume of *Selected Works of Fidel Castro* (Obras Escogidas de Fidel Castro), published by Editorial Alejandro, alongside new releases from local imprints Ediciones La Luz, Ediciones Holguin, and La Mezquita (History research)

Meanwhile, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) will host the event “Witness Memorial” (*Memorial de Testigo*), featuring authors such as Emerio Medina—winner of the 2010 Casa de las Americas Prize—according to Eliel Gomez, the organization’s provincial president.

The Science Pavilion, located at La Periquera Provincial History Museum, will display documentary sources regarding the Russian-speaking community, while the Jose Marti Cultural Society will dedicate its discussions to the 65th anniversary of Uneac.

Yaquelin Tapia, the provincial director of Culture, highlighted the significance of the work of Ruben Rodriguez—an Alejo Carpentier Prize winner—whose body of work spans both children’s and adult literature within the Caribbean nation’s cultural heritage.
