Holguin, Cuba, Aug 28 (Prensa Latina) - From September 4 to 6 the Cuban province of Holguin will host the XXXIV International Book Fair, dedicated to the writer Ruben Rodriguez and the Russian Federation as guest country.

The event will pay tribute to the centenary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, as well as intellectuals Marilyn Bobes and José Bell Lara.

Sarais Ferrer, president of the Organizing Committee of the literary event, informed at a press conference that the contest will use 28 spaces and cultural institutions around the central park Calixto Garcia to promote exchange with the public.

The opening gala, entitled Remembranzas and under the direction of Orestes Saavedra, will pay tribute to Russia, while the closing will be done by director Fermin Lopez.

The editorial program will include the presentation of the first volume of the Chosen Works of Fidel Castro, published by Editorial Alejandro, along with news from local labels Ediciones La Luz, Ediciones Holguín and La Mezquita.

For its part, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) will develop the space Memorial de Testigo with the participation of authors such as Emerio Medina, who was awarded the Casa de las Americas Prize in 2010, according to Eliel Gomez, provincial president of the organization.

The Science Pavilion, located in the Provincial Museum of History La Periquera, will display documentary sources about the Russian-speaking community, while the Jose Marti Cultural Society will dedicate its debates to the 65th anniversary of UNEAC.
