During a ceremony, friends of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City planted 100 bamboo plants in honor of the revolutionary leader, who was born on August 13, 1926.
The stone at the center of the garden bears an inscription in Vietnamese reading: COMMEMORATING THE CENTENARY OF THE BIRTH OF CUBAN PRESIDENT FIDEL CASTRO RUZ (AUGUST 13, 1926 – AUGUST 13, 2026). Cu Chi Tunnels historic site, August 29, 2026.
The inauguration was attended by the Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, Mauricio Alejandro Martinez.
The Cu Chi area is known for its extensive underground network used by Vietnamese soldiers during the U.S. war of aggression.
