The Lebanese Presidency announced that Aoun made these statements during an official visit to Athens, the capital of Greece, where he met with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The president stated, “The only possible path forward is to address both issues simultaneously: the complete withdrawal of the occupation and the full control of our entire territory exclusively by our Armed Forces.”

The head of State also stressed the importance of Greece’s support for Lebanon, both in strengthening its military institutions and in international forums.

Mitsotakis, in turn, reaffirmed Athens’ support for the Lebanese Armed Forces and indicated that they must exercise sovereignty over the entire national territory, particularly in the south of the country.

These statements come amid direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, sponsored by the United States and held in Rome, aimed at advancing the Israeli withdrawal and the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the evacuated areas.
