According to an update from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 279 people have been injured, of whom 168 have already been discharged from the hospital.

The disaster has also left 583 foreign nationals and 164 Nepalese traveling with tourists unaccounted for.

To date, authorities have rescued 11,884 people, and the Nepalese Army, in coordination with experts from India, China, and South Korea, continues rescue operations.

On August 26, flash floods caused by the abrupt melting of a glacier swept through the areas of Syafrubesi and Timure in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, destroying buildings and causing a major disaster.

The sudden and destructive surge occurred with little warning in the foothills of the Himalayas and moved rapidly through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river system, leaving residents of vulnerable areas little time to escape.

India and China have been proactive in sending aid to the victims, including several shipments of medicine and essential supplies.
