The exhibition, located at Tocumen International Airport in this capital, will be presented by FAO Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, Bolivian Rene Orellana, with the expected participation of Panamanian authorities and members of the diplomatic corps.

The event takes place one day after Panama and the FAO signed the Country Programming Framework (CPF) 2026-2030, a roadmap that will define bilateral technical cooperation for the next five years.

Orellana told Prensa Latina that Panama has reduced the prevalence of hunger to 4.7 percent and is nearing the end of this scourge.

FAO statistics state that undernourishment fell from 23.3 percent in the 2000-2002 period to 4.7 percent in 2023-2025, a decrease that allowed nearly half a million people to overcome hunger.

The FAO warned that, despite the progress, reducing hunger is not the end of the road, as the challenge remains to guarantee permanent access to nutritious, healthy, and affordable food, as well as address other forms of malnutrition, including overweight and obesity.
