State Council Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) spokesperson Zhang Han told at a press briefing that no Taiwanese citizens were reported missing, injured, or dead due to the disaster.
Han explained, “We will continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary assistance promptly to Taiwanese compatriots in the affected area.”
The spokesperson expressed concern about the disruption to normal life and work caused by the heavy and continuous rains in southern Taiwan and, in this regard, conveyed the mainland’s willingness to assist.
China continues its recovery work following the devastating ice-rock mudslide in Nepal, which triggered a deadly avalanche that struck the port of Gyirong on the Chinese side on August 26.
