A notice sent to shipping companies states that, starting this Thursday, the daily transit slots for the Neopanamax locks will be reduced to nine, while those for the Panamax locks will be 25.
Subsequently, beginning September 15, the daily transit slots for the Panamax locks will decrease to 23, as part of adjustments aimed at preserving available water resources and in response to the impact of the weather event.
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) noted that, despite the arrival of the rainy season and the water conservation measures adopted, rainfall in the watershed remains below forecasts.
The ACP will continue to monitor weather conditions, water inflows from the watershed, and lake levels to determine any necessary further adjustments.
