According to data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) candidacy system, out of the 20,900 applications submitted nationwide, some 20,700 have already been reviewed—representing nearly 99 percent of the total.
Of the rejected registrations, 335 were deemed definitively inadmissible, while another 869 can still be challenged through appeals to higher electoral court bodies.
The primary reason for the rejections is failure to meet formal requirements established by electoral law.
The elections will determine the president, vice president, governors, 54 of the 81 senators, and federal, state, and district deputies.
On September 15, the TSE reported that it had ruled on 99.02 percent of registration applications and that 205 cases remained pending review. Thirteen registration applications were initially submitted for the presidency of the Republic, and 12 candidacies were approved.
