In a brief statement released via Instagram by the National Assembly TV (ANTV), the group recommended lifting restrictions on media domain names and boosting free expression amidst a climate of dialogue among Venezuelans.
These initiatives stemmed from a consultation process involving various sectors of the national media—including public, private, and alternative outlets, as well as social media influencers—the official note indicated.
It emphasized that the measures aim to fostering an “environment of greater and better communication, transparency, diversity, and pluralism.”
The proposals were presented to the acting leader just 24 hours before delegations from the national government and former lawmakers of the defunct National Assembly (the 2015–2020 parliament) were set to resume political dialogue.
These working groups began talks on August 6; as a result of the initial meetings, they reached two agreements: one to assist victims of the earthquakes that struck on June 24, and another to overhaul the justice system.
The latter focuses on reforming the Organic Law of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ in Spanish) and other related laws, as well as renewing and expanding the Judicial Nominations Committee.
