Colombian opposition leader warns of preparations for drives

Bogota, 19 Sep (Prensa Latina) The leader of the opposition in the Senate of Colombia, Ivan Cepeda, denounced that Presidency of Abelardo de la Espriella undermined social rights and announced the start of preparations for future drives.

According to the legislator in his account of the social network X, many sectors of the population felt severely affected, in barely a month in office of De la Espriella.

He for instance mentioned those hit by the earthquake, farmers, victims, teachers, students and university professors, public workers, indigenous communities and Afro-descendant communities, youths, those who are in reincorporation processes, the Lgbtiq+ sector, young people, artists and opposing journalists.

“Start preparing for social movements that will have our determined support”, assured the congressman.

Recently it was learnt that progressive organizations in Colombia are organized to oppose the government of De la Espriella.

During the National Meeting for the Defense of Life, Dignity, Democracy, Peace, Sovereignty and Social Reforms, celebrated in this capital, a road trip was drawn up to defend labor and social rights, organize work in neighborhoods and streets and prepare conditions to call a national parade in the coming November.

For the 14th of October, a national drive is planned with the aim of demanding that guarantees in public education and health, labor rights and peace, and in favor of the demands of the peasantry, be respected.
