Cuba denounces US pressure preventing arrival of supplies

Havana, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced that some 7,000 containers bound for Cuba remain stranded in various ports around the world due to coercive measures, pressure, and blackmail by the US government against international shipping companies.

On the social media platform X, the island’s top diplomat specified that the detained cargo includes humanitarian aid—such as solar panels, medicines, and colostomy bags—as well as dozens of containers acquired by various United Nations agencies.

Rodriguez described this situation as a new example of the “collective punishment” to which Washington subjects the Cuban people, and shared a report from *The New York Times* documenting the case.

The Cuban Foreign Minister has consistently denounced the impact of the US blockade on access to medical supplies and essential resources, noting that these measures violate international law and the human rights of the Cuban population.

The total cost of the damage inflicted on Cuba by the blockade during the period from March 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, reached a record figure of $8.0833 billion—7 percent higher than that reported in previous years.
