At its headquarters in the municipality of Moron, the foundation hosts gatherings, discussion sessions, and workshops as part of its main projects—*Las Barcas de Cristal*, *Cuerda Rota*, and *Estoy Poniendo La Hamaca*—all of which operate with the collaboration of university professors and local artists.
Larry Morales, president of the Ciego de Avila branch, noted that while the organization was initially designed to showcase the work of Cuba’s national poet, it has since become a focal point for highlighting the nation’s cultural and literary values.
He added that, over the years, they have kept a consistent work in the audiovisual, academic, and cultural fields, with initiatives ranging from poetry recitals and storytelling to *trova* songs and popular and classical music—all of which have been warmly received by the local public.
Morales highlighted that, in light of the country’s current energy crisis, they have adjusted project schedules and dates to facilitate local participation and ensure the institution remains active.
He also remembered the enthusiastic reception given to distinguished Cuban intellectuals such as Miguel Barnet, Maria Dolores Ortiz, and Eduardo Torres Cuevas, as well as National Visual Arts Award winner Nelson Dominguez; the latter gifted a painting of Fidel Castro that now adorns one of the center’s walls.
