Austrian Vice-Chancellor reaffirms opposition to blockade of Cuba

Vienna, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Austrian Vice-Chancellor Andreas Babler stated that he is monitoring the situation in Cuba and recalled his country's historic support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade within the United Nations framework.

Babler, who also serves as Austria’s Federal Minister for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media, and Sport, met with Pablo Berti Oliva—Cuba’s ambassador to Austria—at the ministry’s headquarters.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat presented concrete figures regarding the damage caused by the U.S. blockade against Cuba and detailed its impact, particularly on strategic sectors such as healthcare, education, and services.

For his part, the Vice-Chancellor showed particular interest in the blockade’s impact on healthcare and food supplies, as well as its consequences for children, the elderly, and the sick, diplomatic sources reported.
