The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Island, in a message disseminated in X, ratified the interest of the Government of Havana in developing bilateral ties with Belmopan.
“We reaffirm the bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite our Caribbean nations,” said the Cuban foreign ministry.
On September 21, 1981, the Belizean people realized their desire for independence from the United Kingdom.
Cuba and Belize established relations in 1995 and since that time has collaborated in areas such as health, sports and culture, as well as in the training of human resources, through the granting of scholarships in different specialties.
Similarly, the Belizean government and people have consistently supported a global vote to lift the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.
