The film—the directorial debut of renowned Cuban actor Omar Ali—is backed by Cubavision channel and the production company i4 Films, ICAIC President Alexis Triana revealed on social media.
*El Camino*, he noted, evokes various landscapes of national history through a fictional narrative, ending up in a resolution where the main chartacters mature and overcome obstacles within their respective eras.
Although further details regarding the synopsis, cast, or production team have not yet been released, the trailer is already available on the Cubacine ICAIC YouTube channel.
“Jointly reviving the production of *El Camino* has been a truly monumental undertaking, and we hope it will be a significant event as part of the Cuban Culture Celebrations and the 50th anniversary of the Ministry of Culture,” Triana added in the statement.
The feature film is scheduled to premiere on October 10, a date commemorating the start of the Caribbean island’s independence struggles in 1868 under the leadership of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, known as the “Father of the Homeland.”
This film collaboration joins other pieces already successful in the national industry, such as *Nora* by filmmaker Roly Pena, *Calle 232* by Rudy Mora, and *Mijain* by Rolando Almirante, Angel Alderete, and Hector Villar.
