During meetings with his counterparts from Zambia, Ghana, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, the excellent state of bilateral relations was highlighted.
Discussions also addressed the intensification of the blockade and the current US administration’s policy of extreme economic strangulation against Cuba—which includes an energy blockade and secondary sanctions that amount to collective punishment of the people.
Rodriguez also met with Andras Allamand, the Ibero-American Secretary General, conveying Cuba’s confidence “that the upcoming Ibero-American Summit will unfold as an inclusive space, taking into account the interests of all, as well as the positions of historical consensus and the Community’s shared legacy.”
The Cuban Foreign Minister also denounced the fact that Latin America and the Caribbean are the target of an offensive by the US government aimed at imposing the archaic Monroe Doctrine, reinforced by new and unacceptable corollaries.
He also attended a National Meeting of Cubans Residing in the United States, where he highlighted the significant efforts made by the island to foster greater engagement and integration into national life for “compatriots residing or staying for extended periods outside Cuba, and their descendants.”
At the meeting, the Foreign Minister reiterated that the US aggression on Cuba continues to intensify, noting “the collective punishment inflicted upon the Cuban people and the ruthless impact it is having on families and the general population.”
There is no way to justify such a cruel crime, the minister noted.
