During an interview with the US network CNN, the president stated that there are indications of interference via artificial intelligence and voiced unease regarding Rubio’s actions.
“I am very concerned about Marco Rubio, because he is closely linked to the Bolsonarista side, though for now, it is only a suspicion,” declared the leader, who insisted that the Brazilian elections are a matter for the country’s citizens. According to Lula, he has already asked US President Donald Trump not to intervene in Brazil’s electoral process, and his American counterpart reportedly told him he does not intend to get involved in the October vote.
These statements follow a report sent in late August by the Brazilian Intelligence Agency to the Planalto Palace, the Ministry of Justice, and the Superior Electoral Court regarding the risk of US influence on the elections.
Furthermore, the document maintains that Washington’s actions show a “selective intensification and reconfiguration” of pressures on Brazil, albeit within a pattern of influence that, according to the agency, already existed.
In his conversation with CNN, Lula also questioned Trump’s foreign policy and once again described his governing style as that of an “emperor,” noting that the US president acts based on the logic that the strongest country can impose its will on others.
