The BNC specified that the death occurred in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, where she had been admitted days earlier.
Born in this capital on May 20, 1946, Llorente began her training at the School of the Society Pro-Arte Musical and then at the National Ballet Academy Alicia Alonso.
After joining the BNC in 1962, she was promoted to soloist in 1967 and first ballerina in 1976.
For more than half a century she was distinguished by her technical security, elegance and stylistic mastery; she took on roles such as Lisette, Swanilda, Giselle, Myrtha, Aurora, Odette-Odile and Kitri, among others.
She participated in premieres and revival of works by Cuban and foreign choreographers, including Hamlet, Los amantes de Verona, Tarde en la siesta, Cecilia Valdes, Equinoxus and pieces by Hilda Riveros, the Cuban company specified on social media. She was the first BNC dancer to incorporate pas de deux as Grand pas classique, La Bayadera, Chaikovski pas de deux and El corsario.
In May 1977 she performed with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, of New York, which was described by Harry Belafonte as a historic moment.
Her last performance as a dancer took place on 28 October 2002, at the closing gala of the 18th International Ballet Festival of Havana, with the premiere of Souvenir, created by Eduardo Blanco for her , added the statement.
In 2003 he had a special performance at the gala for the International Dance Day and in 2012 reappeared with Alicia Alonso and other figures at the Ballet Festival.
She also engaged in choreographic creation, with a version of Don Quixote in 1988 and performances of La bayadera, and developed pedagogical work at the BNC, the National Ballet School, the Choreographic Center of the Valencian Community and the Alicia Alonso Dance Chair, today Alicia Alonso Dance Institute, in Spain.
Among her recognitions are the Bronze Medal of the International Ballet Competition of Varna, the Distinction for National Culture, the medals Alejo Carpentier and Felix Varela de Primer Grado, and the National Dance Prize 2015.
