In a message addressed to the Russian leader, the co-presidents noted that they received news of his triumph—leading the United Russia party to continue heading the Eurasian nation’s parliament—”with great joy.”
Ortega and Murillo highlighted Volodin’s work in the service of the people and the Russian Federation, as well as the results achieved by the nation in the “righteous battles undertaken.”
“In extending the affection, respect, and recognition of our People and Government, we reiterate to you—at the helm of the State Duma—the full support we have always maintained and continue to maintain,” the message states. The Nicaraguan co-presidents also reaffirmed their support for the causes of “Justice, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Complementarity.”
Likewise, amidst the transformation toward a multipolar world, they extended—through Volodin—their congratulations to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on the results achieved.
The message concludes by expressing the brotherhood between Nicaragua and Russia and reaffirming the ties between the two countries.
According to press reports, Russia’s legislative elections concluded with a voter turnout of 44.38 percent. The electoral system remained unaffected, despite attempts at cyberattacks.
