The *Starnav Elektra* is a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) used to support oil platform operations; it will proceed to facilities located in Brazilian oil basins as part of Petrobras’s offshore operations.

  During the voyage from Santa Catarina to Rio de Janeiro, the ship was staffed by a crew of 16 women under the command of Captain Isabela Teixeira Ponce de Leon.

  According to the company’s president, Magda Chambriard, investments in the shipbuilding industry and offshore operations are driving a new cycle of business and opportunities for the sector.

   Chambriard also highlighted that expanding the fleet aims to increase operational efficiency and optimize Petrobras’s return on capital through greater use of vessels linked to its activities.

  She reported that the company has 48 vessels under contract through the end of this year and expects to reach a total of 96 delivered vessels by 2027, including barges and tugboats.

  The Open Sea Program also includes technological advancements aimed at improving the energy efficiency of recently added support vessels.

  The projects also add potential for future partial operation using renewable fuels and include new coating technologies and anti-fouling systems for the hulls.
