The news agency noted that Al Thani made these statements during his address at the opening ceremony of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Referring to Gaza, the Qatari emir affirmed that “it is impossible to speak of a just international order while Palestine remains a blind spot within it; what has transpired in Gaza is genocide in every sense of the word and a stain of shame on the conscience of humanity as a whole.”
He added, “Future generations will be astonished by the vast gap between the catastrophe and the level of the international response to halt it. And the catastrophe continues.”
The Emir stated that Israeli leaders had begun to declare that the solution to ending the war in the Strip would be the displacement of the population, something they term “migration.”
Al Thani reiterated Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent State with East Jerusalem as its capital and called on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
