“In an effort to disrupt the democratic expression of the will of the citizens of the Russian Federation during the elections for the State Duma of the Federal Assembly, the Kyiv regime attempted to perpetrate a massive attack against Russian territory on September 19 and 20 using drones and Flamingo cruise missiles,” the statement read.
The note specifies that, over the last 24 hours, 1,951 attack unmanned aerial vehicles and eight long-range cruise missiles were shot down over Russian territory.
All Flamingo missiles launched by the Kyiv regime were destroyed by Russian air defense systems as they approached civilian targets in the Moscow region, the report added.
“In response to the Kyiv regime’s attacks on civilian targets in Russia, the Russian Armed Forces will continue and intensify precision-weapon strikes against military targets” in Ukraine, the military agency emphasized.
This Sunday marks the last of three voting days for Russia’s 2026 parliamentary elections. The vote will determine the 450 deputies of the State Duma (lower house) for the ninth legislative term.
Gubernatorial elections are taking place in at least eight regions during this same period. In total, more than 2,200 electoral campaigns at various levels are being held to fill approximately 20,700 deputy seats and other elected positions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin described these elections as the most important event in domestic politics.
