Speaking at the event, held at the PT’s state headquarters in that city, Adalid Martínez—a member of the political party’s national leadership—emphasized the importance of redoubling solidarity with the Caribbean nation.
In this regard, he called for tangible actions to reaffirm the historic support between the two peoples and highlighted the Cuban resistance against the US government aggressions, which imposes an economic, commercial, financial, and energy blockade.
For his part, Federal Deputy Jose Luis Sanchez extolled the significance of Fidel Castro’s revolutionary work in the history of the island and of humanity, noting how his legacy continues to inspire the struggle of the Cuban people and other peoples around the world.
“Cuba raised the concepts of independence, sovereignty, and dignity to unimaginable levels; these are the values guiding the resistance of that heroic and invincible people—the Cuban people,” the legislator stated.
Addressing the gathering, Havana’s ambassador to Mexico, Eugenio Martinez, highlighted the historic revolutionary leader’s commitment to fulfilling the people’s will, his legacy that “nothing is impossible,” and his triumphant optimism, which serves as a compass for Cubans.
He referred to the history of Washington’s interventionist and domineering policies toward his country and denounced the current escalation of U.S. government aggression as genocide—including an energy blockade that, alongside other measures, constitutes an undeserved collective punishment.
He emphasized that in his nation, uncertainty is overcome through resistance rather than submission, reaffirming the Cuban people’s resolve to defend their sovereignty at all costs.
