Thirteen convicted of drug trafficking in Uruguay

Montevideo, Sept 20 (Prensa Latina) Raids, arrests, and the seizure of drugs, weapons, and money were the results of Operacion Jaguar in the Uruguayan department of Soriano—located northwest of the capital. The operation targeted drug-dealing locations in Mercedes, the departmental capital, the Ministry of the Interior announced.

Cocaine was the drug seized, what drove 13 people being convicted.

The operation involved 10 raids in Mercedes and one in Montevideo.

This intervention was led by the Soriano Departmental Anti-Drug Brigade and was supported by the Investigations Directorate, the Tactical Reserve Group, K-9 units, and other police divisions working in coordination.

Items seized during the operation included three revolvers of various calibers, an air rifle, narcotic substances (including numerous small, pre-packaged units), several vehicles, a drone, and cash in both local currency and US dollars.

Three 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old are among those convicted and sentenced to detention.
