After witnessing the drill in various districts of Managua, the representatives met with the director of the National System for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Response (Sinapred), Guillermo González, and Co-Foreign Minister Denis Moncada to share their observations on the event.
Representatives from the World Food Programme (WFP), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) highlighted the inclusive nature of the exercise, which incorporated measures to ensure the participation and care of the elderly, children, and people with disabilities.
PAHO advisor in Nicaragua, Oscar Messones, noted that holding these exercises periodically contributes to improving the population’s preparedness and its ability to react to large-scale emergencies.
During the meeting, diplomatic representatives from Venezuela, Chile, and the United States congratulated the authorities on the institutional preparedness observed and proposed maintaining coordination regarding technical support and the exchange of protocols for the delivery of humanitarian aid.
For his part, Gonzalez highlighted the active role played by communities, thanked the participating delegations for their observations and contributions, and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in strengthening national prevention and response capabilities.
