Later, His Holiness met with Macron at the Elysee Palace, where guests included the mayors of Marseille, Benoit Payan, and Paris, Emmanuel Gregoire, representatives from institutions, the diplomatic corps, and civil society.
The Holy Father visited UNESCO headquarters, the first such visit by a Vatican leader since 1980, where he delivered another speech addressing peace, education, culture, and international cooperation.
Vatican News reported that Pope Leo XIV’s speech included a “substantial” reference to artificial intelligence (AI), linked to his encyclical Magnifica Humanitas.
UNESCO and the Holy See will strengthen their cooperation specifically regarding AI.
France 24 highlights that the Organization links the Pope’s encyclical to its own ethical standards on AI, adopted in 2021.
