Uruguay media highlights Orsi’s call regarding the blockade on Cuba

Montevideo, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) The fact that various media outlets converged on the same headline highlights the sensitivity surrounding the reaction to Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi's criticism of the blockade on Cuba.

During his address to the UN General Assembly in New York, where—according to the conservative newspaper *El Pais*—he “began with a greeting to the people of the United States and denounced the blockade against Cuba.”

However, what stood out was that outlets such as *El Observador*, *La Diaria*, *Subrayado*, and *Busqueda*, among others, all prioritized the story and used the same headline.

“Yamandu Orsi at the UN: Uruguay cannot remain indifferent to the ‘suffering’ caused by the ‘ironclad economic blockade’ in Cuba”—this was the headline used by *El Observador* and other Uruguayan publications, as well as in social media posts.

*El Observador* daily highlighted the president’s statement that “no country has all the truth, no nation holds a monopoly on solutions, and no society can claim that its historical experience is universal.”

*Caras y Caretas* media also reported that Orsi denounced the “ironclad economic blockade” on Cuba before the UN General Assembly.

*El Popular*, the organ of the Communist Party of Uruguay (PCU), reported that the head of state advocated for peace, rejected “the suffering caused by an ironclad economic blockade like the one endured by the Cuban people,” defended the continued relevance of the UN, and called for its transformation.

The website *Ambito* covered the issue in similar terms.
