This blockade exacerbates the living conditions of the Cuban people due to shortages of medicines, hospital supplies, food, and other goods essential for human development, “Capítulo Cuba” emphasized in a statement released via Facebook.
The Salvadoran organization highlighted the island’s inability to purchase raw materials and produce necessary goods—items it cannot acquire on the international market as a result of the blockade.
“We cannot remain indifferent to injustice,” the group stated, firmly urging a definitive end to political harassment, indiscriminate siege tactics, and the violation of the principles and norms of international law.
Collectively, these actions undermine national self-determination and sovereignty, the country’s development, and the realization of the people’s fundamental rights, the group added.
At the same time, “Capitulo Cuba” denounced the media campaign against the island’s political system, as well as statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump during the UN General Assembly (on September 22).
These statements are aimed to discrediting the island’s historic leadership and political system, demoralize the Cuban people’s resistance, and shift responsibility for the blockade’s effects onto the country’s leaders. The Salvadoran organization also called for an immediate, unconditional, and unrestricted end to the blockade and all executive orders that worsen the situation in Cuba, while demanding unhindered access to medicines, food, and humanitarian aid.
The suffering of an entire people—and especially that of children—cannot continue to be the price of a policy devoid of legal and moral legitimacy, he declared.
