Lavrov, who addressed the general policy debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, also called for the removal of trade restrictions with the Caribbean nation and its removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
“We reaffirm our solidarity with the Cuban people and government. We strongly urge that the blockade against the ‘Island of Freedom’ be lifted, that all trade restrictions with Cuba be removed, and that the country be excluded from the list of state sponsors of terrorism—a list that has long since become odious,” the Russian foreign minister noted.
The Russian foreign minister also accused Western countries of reckless actions that threaten the lives of billions of people, and recalled the words of President Vladimir Putin, who stated that the dictatorship of a hegemonic power has spiraled out of control and become dangerous to those around it.
According Lavrov, the Western minority—which dominated for five centuries at the expense of foreign resources—continues to try to preserve its privileges and impose its rules on everyone.
“The West increasingly resorts to brute force, acts unpredictably and imprudently, and threatens the lives and well-being of millions, if not billions, of people on our shared planet,” noted the Slavic nation’s top diplomat.
In his address to the UN General Assembly, Lavrov pledged that, following the conclusion of the special military operation, all threats to Russia’s security originating from Kyiv would be eliminated.
