“We are a free and sovereign country, and out of universal fraternity, Mexico will continue to support the sister nation of Cuba in the face of the blockade it is enduring,” the political group stated in a message posted on its X social media account.

  The organization asserted that “another way of doing politics is possible: one based on sovereignty, solidarity, and fraternity among peoples.”

  Morena accompanied the message with a video showing former President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (2018-2024) expressing his support for Cuba—the largest of the Antilles—during one of his regular press conferences.

  “We will do everything we can to help the Cuban people, including providing oil. They are a people suffering under an inhumane blockade.

  We cannot turn our backs on the Cuban people, and we do not need to ask permission from any foreign government,” the former leader noted.

  Mexico, now led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, reaffirmed its rejection of the blockade imposed by Washington at the United Nations yesterday and pledged to continue sending material aid to address the island’s population’s most urgent needs.
