Addressing the diplomatic corps accredited to the Caribbean nation, Cuba’s Ambassador to Bolivia, Elba Rosa Perez Montoya, stated that the island’s largest mass organization—to which all Cubans belong—has supported the undefeated Cuban Revolution since its inception.
After highlighting the role of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro in driving the creation of the CDRs—which are present in neighborhoods and in the hearts of Cuban families—the Cuban representative noted that the event was also attended by the children of diplomats representing the Latin American state in this South American country.
“These children represent continuity and the natural succession of future members of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution,” she remarked during the event, held at the Caribbean nation’s diplomatic mission in La Paz.
Speaking at the gathering, Valentin Palacios, a Counselor at the Latin American nation’s diplomatic mission, maintained that today we commemorate the founding of the CDRs because of the value inherent in the organization, which is an integral part of Cuba’s social and political history.
He emphasized that this anniversary arrives at a particularly complex time, when economic difficulties, material shortages, and the challenges we face are part of a reality demanding responsibility, solidarity, and the ability to find solutions from within our own communities.
This date also invites us to recognize the value of public participation, collective effort, and solidarity among neighbors, Palacios noted, stressing that these principles have guided generations of Cubans and remain significant in the daily life of our neighborhoods.
