Responding to a question from Prensa Latina, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun affirmed that China will pursue a path of socialist development suited to its national conditions and firmly support the safeguarding of the Caribbean nation’s national sovereignty.
Guo noted that since Cuba and China established diplomatic relations 66 years ago, the two countries’ friendship has been passed down from generation to generation.
The spokesperson detailed that, in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of State, the construction of a community with a shared future has continued to advance, and stressed that China opposes foreign interference in the Caribbean nation.
Cuba became, on September 28, 1960, the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish ties with the new China, paving the way for relations between this nation and the remaining nations in the region.
