Cuba solidarity group in Bogota demands end to US blockade

Bogota, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Members of the Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MCSC) demanded an end to the United States blockade against the island and the lifting of all punitive measures that cause hardship for the Caribbean people.

Activists held a protest at the intersection of Jimenez Avenue and Carrera Septima, calling on passersby and cyclists to join the international campaign supporting the Caribbean nation and condemning the energy blockade imposed by the Donald Trump administration.

Carrying banners, flags, and slogans related to Cuba, MCSC members joined the global solidarity movement to back the right of the Cuban people to defend its self-determination.

Letty Munoz, a participant in the event, told Prensa Latina she attended because the island poses no threat to the United States.

Activists who spoke during the protest also highlighted the deterioration of living conditions for Cubans resulting from the intensification of the US blockade.

Jorge Caceres, president of the Jose Marti Solidarity House, pointed out to passersby how Cuba’s infant mortality rate had doubled as a consequence of the limitations imposed by the blockade.

Attendees reaffirmed their support for Cuba’s efforts in the struggle for a better world and highlighted the altruistic example the island sets globally through its literacy programs and the provision of technical specialists across various fields of knowledge.
