  She added that the visa revocation is not an isolated incident but rather linked to the “media, judicial, and social media persecution” she claims to face for holding dissenting views and holding political office.

  Peralta stated that she learned of the event through news reports and social media and had not received formal notification of the decision.

  Nevertheless, she affirmed that her commitment remains with Colombia, the department of La Guajira, and the communities she represents.

  As reported by Noticias Caracol, the US State Department confirmed the revocation of visas for Colombian contractor Euclides Torres, as well as for Senator Martha Peralta—of the Indigenous and Social Alternative Movement—and her family members.
