During the presentation of four apprehended members of the so-called Comando Vermelho (from Brazil), Bolivian Government Minister Marco Antonio Oviedo said the issue would be addressed in an upcoming binational meeting with his Brazilian counterpart.
The actions, which involve police forces, are part of a comprehensive program against organized crime and drug trafficking, the Executive noted after meeting with a representative of the Brazilian Embassy in the country.
On that occasion, Oviedo emphasized the importance of improving coordination in the face of criminal groups that exploit the vast extension of the binational borders to commit acts of violence.
Media outlets reported that, a week ago, authorities from La Paz traveled to San Ignacio de Velasco municipality, bordering Brazil, to track down the perpetrators of the murders of three civilians, crimes apparently committed by hired assassins.
