These developments were announced at a press conference held in the Hector Garcia Mesa Hall of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), where other information regarding audiovisual creation was also shared.
During the meeting, Igor Mednicovf, the cultural attache at the Russian Embassy in Cuba, discussed a bilateral protocol that strengthens cooperation in the spheres of culture and sports.
Signed by Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture Lizette Martinez at the 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum, the document outlines the development of projects in other areas as well.
According to media reports, highlights include exchanges between the Russian Museum and Cuba’s National Museum of Fine Arts, as well as the continued training of Cuban students at Russian arts institutions.
Mednicovf also spoke about the National Ballet of Cuba’s (BNC) presence in his country.
Under the general direction of Viengsay Valdes, the company took the stage at the Mariinsky Theatre on September 24 to perform *Giselle*, featuring Alicia Alonso’s choreography.
The Russian diplomat stated that cinema is the most active area of ”our cultural cooperation.”
At the regular press conference providing updates on the film sector, ICAIC President Alexis Triana presented the Russian guest with the document confirming the nomination of the Cuban film *Calle 232* for the “Diamond Butterfly” Eurasian Open Film Award.
