Minister Bruno Rodriguez highlights US people’s support for Cuba

Havana, Sept. 30 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez highlighted the gap between the US government's statements against Cuba and the views held by a significant portion of American society, according to polls conducted in 2026.

The results reveal a correlation between how Americans view Cuba and their lack of support for “maximum pressure” measures, Rodriguez wrote on the social media platform X, referring to an article published today on the Cubadebate website.

The Foreign Minister noted that available data show 61 percent do not trust the president (Donald Trump) to make sound decisions regarding Cuba, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted in March.

Data from YouGov, based on a February report, indicate that 61 percent support maintaining diplomatic relations with Cuba, while 46 percent disapprove of the oil blockade, compared to 28 percent who approve.

An Economist/YouGov poll from August 2026 revealed that 58 percent of Americans surveyed oppose seizing Cuba by force, compared to 17 percent who support it.

According to the Cubadebate article, a Pew Research Center study revealed that 61% of Americans do not trust Trump to make good decisions regarding Cuba.
